Taking the Mystery Out of Tests and Textbook Alignment Strategies
This one- or two-day hands-on seminar teaches educators how to analyze high stakes tests to identify the essential content being assessed. This important analysis of tests is based on the data yielded from deconstructing test items, and participants are taught to deconstruct publicly-released items using the deep alignment concept. The content, context, and cognitive type of test items are determined and then deepened, to maximize alignment between the taught and the tested curriculum.
This seminar also provides participants with the principles needed to analyze textbooks and other instructional resources for alignment to the tests in use. Sample test materials are used in the seminar, as well as sample instructional resources.
This seminar, as the second of the principal-teacher series for higher student achievement, offers an additional half-day of training for participants to acquire licensure to train others in-district. This “trainer of trainers” seminar includes a trainer’s kit.
